   Zurich :                                                       

Zurich is the largest city in Switzerland. The official language of Zurich is German. Many museums and art galleries can be found in the city, including the Swiss National Museum and Kunsthaus. 

Schauspielhaus Zurich is considered to be one of the most important theatres in the German-speaking world. Zurich Airport is located less than 10 kilometers northeast of the city in Kloten. Zurich Airport has its own railway station, which is located underground. It is directly connected to Zürich and most of the major Swiss cities. One of the largest and most popular annual events in Zürich is the Street Parade, which is also one of the largest techno and dance music festivals in the world. Proceeding along the side of Lake Zürich, it is normally held on the second Saturday in August.




Bern:

    Bern is the capital of Switzerland. The official language in Bern is the Swiss variety of Standard German. In 1983, the historic old town in the Centre of Bern became a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The Zytglogge is a landmark medieval tower in Bern, Switzerland. Toblerone is a Swiss chocolate bar brand owned by US confectionery company Mondelēz International, Inc., formerly Kraft Foods. Kraft acquired Toblerone from owner Jacobs Suchard in 1990. It is produced in Bern.

 


Lucerne:

Lucerne is the most populous town in Central Switzerland, and a nexus of economics, transportation, culture, and media in the region. Owing to its location on the shores of Lake Lucerne and its outflow, the river Reuss, within sight of the mounts Pilatus and Rigi in the Swiss Alps, Lucerne has long been a destination for tourists. One of the city's famous landmarks is the Chapel Bridge, a wooden bridge first erected in the 14th century.




Geneva:

Geneva is a global city, a financial Centre, and a worldwide Centre for diplomacy due to the presence of numerous international organizations, including the headquarters of many agencies of the United Nations and the Red Cross. Geneva hosts the highest number of international organizations in the world. It is also where the Geneva Conventions were signed, which chiefly concern the treatment of wartime non-combatants and prisoners of war. 




Zermatt:

The name of Zermatt, as well as that of the Matterhorn itself, derives from the alpine meadows, or matten (in German), in the valley. The name appeared first as Zur Matte ("at the meadow") and became later Zermatt. Zermatt is famed as a mountaineering and ski resort of the Swiss Alps. Zermatt is a starting point for hikes into the mountains.




Lugano:

Lugano is a town in southern Switzerland bordering Italy. The town is home to a number of historic buildings and museums, whilst the surrounding area has many natural sights. Both Lake Lugano and the surrounding mountains provide a wide variety of outdoor activities. 




 Vaud:

Vaud is one of the most important wine-producing areas in Switzerland (mainly white wines), with vineyards and wineries primarily along Lake Geneva. Limestone and sandstone are quarried in the Jura and salt is mined at Bex. Although Vaud is not widely industrial many towns specialize in certain products such as watches, various metal items and instruments, machinery, chocolate, cigars, and biscuits. The most important activity, however, is tourism, based on lakeside resorts such as Montreux, Vevey, and Lausanne and numerous mountain resorts. Road and rail communications are highly developed.



Lausanne:

The entire old city of Lausanne and the Vernand-Dessus region are listed in the Inventory of Swiss Heritage Sites. Lausanne is a focus of international sport, hosting the International Olympic Committee.  It lies in a noted wine-growing region. The Orchestre de chambre de Lausanne, the Lausanne Opera and the Ensemble vocal de Lausanne provide a diverse and rich musical life. 

 


Basel:

Basel a city in northwestern Switzerland on the river Rhine.  The official language of Basel is German. Basel is commonly considered to be the cultural capital of Switzerland. The city is famous for its many museums, ranging from the Kunstmuseum, the first collection of art accessible to the public in the world (1661) and the largest museum of art in Switzerland. Basel has often been the site of peace negotiations and other international meetings. Basel is Switzerland's oldest University City.



Schaffhausen:

Schaffhausen is a town with historic roots, a municipality in northern Switzerland, The official language of Schaffhausen is German, Schaffhausen shares an international border with the German village of Büsingen am Hochrhein. The town, located on the Upper Rhine between the Black Forest and Lake Constance, and surrounded by vineyards, is a popular destination for holidays and day-trips.

Lake Geneva, Europe's largest Alpine lake. The city of Geneva sits between pretty snow-capped peaks at the point where the Rhine fall water flow into Lake Geneva.


                           3)         THE MATTERHORN



  • Matterhorn,  one of the best-known mountains  in the Alps , straddling the frontier between Switzerland and Italy, southwest of the village of Zermatt, Switzerland.


                                                  4)   LAKE LUCERNE



Lake Lucerne, principal lake of central Switzerland, The lake is named after the city of Lucerne, which lies at its western end. The lake is most beautifully situated between steep limestone mountains.

                       5)        ZOO BASEL



Zoo Basel is a non-profit zoo in the city of Basel, Switzerland. Its official name is Zoologischer Garten Basel — or in English: Basel Zoological Garden. 


               6)          MOUNT TITLIS



TITLIS is the jewel in Central Switzerland's crown and the only publicly accessible glacier in the area. The cable car offers incredible views, and the rotating cable car for the last bit is super cool. The season lasts from October until May. And in the summer, the mountain is occupied by hikers and outdoor enthusiasts.


                                         7)    CHATEAU DE CHILLON




Chillon Castle is located on Lake Geneva in Switzerland. Chillon is an island castle built on a rocky spit a few feet from the shore of Lake Geneva. The island has been inhabited since the Bronze Age. A castle has sat on the island for at least 1,000 years.


                                           8)    SWITZERLAND MUSEUM OF TRANSPORTATION.



The Swiss Transport Museum is in Lucerne and exhibits all forms of transport including trains, automobiles, ships and aircraft) as well as communication technology. It is Switzerland's most popular museum.



        9)       RHINE FALLS


  • The Rhine Falls is a waterfall located in Switzerland and the most powerful waterfall in Europe. Boat trips can be taken up the Rhine to the falls and the Rheinfallfelsen. There are also viewing platforms with views of the falls built on both sides of the Rhine. 


                                10)     PIZ NAIR



Piz Nair is a mountain of the Albula Alps in Switzerland. The peak is easily accessible from the village with a funicular and a cable car.

    THE BERNINA LINE BETWEEN ST. MORITZ AND TIRANO LINKS NORTHERN AND SOUTHERN EUROPE. IT RUNS PAST MOUNTAINS, LAKES AND GLACIERS DOWN TO THE PALMS OF VALTELLINA. THE FAMOUS PANORAMIC ROUTE IS A TRUE LANDMARK WHICH HAS UNESCO WORLD HERITAGE STATUS. 

 15)     SWISS NATIONAL PARK :



IT IS THE ONLY NATIONAL PARK IN SWITZERLAND. IN THE PARK, IT'S NOT ALLOWED TO LEAVE MARKED PATHS, LIGHT A FIRE OR SLEEP OUTSIDE THE CHAMANNA CLUOZZA, THE MOUNTAIN HUT LOCATED IN THE PARK. IT IS ALSO FORBIDDEN TO DISTURB ANIMALS OR PLANTS, OR TO TAKE HOME ANYTHING FOUND IN THE PARK. DOGS ARE NOT ALLOWED, EVEN ON A LEASH. DUE TO THESE STRICT RULES, THE SWISS NATIONAL PARK IS THE ONLY PARK IN THE ALPS. IT IS PART OF THE WORLDWIDE UNESCO BIOSPHERE RESERVE.







            

FONDUE :





    THE MOST FAMOUS SWISS MENU. FONDUE IS MADE OUT OF MOLTEN CHEESE. WE EAT IT BY DIPPING SMALL PIECES OF BREAD IN THE MOLTEN CHEESE. THE SECRET LIES IN THE RIGHT MIXTURE OF DIFFERENT FLAVORS OF CHEESE. TYPICALLY, FONDUE IS SERVED ON COLD WINTER DAYS.

 


 

BERNER PLATTE :

    

THE BERNER PLATTE IS A TRADITIONAL MEAT DISH OF BERNESE CUISINE IN SWITZERLAND. ALPLERMAGRONEN (ALPINE MACARONI) :

THIS DISH IS A TRADITIONAL TART CONSISTING OF A SHORTBREAD PASTRY FILLED WITH NUTS AND CARAMEL. WALNUTS ARE TYPICALLY USED FOR THE FILLING, BUT OTHER NUTS MAY ALSO BE USED, ALTHOUGH VERY RARELY. NOWADAYS, THE CAKE IS USUALLY SERVED CUT INTO SLICES AND PAIRED WITH COFFEE OR TEA.
